What is a PDE Pod?

A PDE Pod is a way for a community to support and encourage the use of traditional public fora to conduct fully protected expressive activities.  It will serve as a long standing symbol for the community's belief in the value of public displays of expression. 

A PDE Pod is a large scale, public art sculpture, that also serves as a platform for purely expressive conduct.  While it could stand on its own as a sculpture worthy of public investment, it will also include features, such as hooks, shelves, seating, and weather protection, that make it easier to conduct public displays of expression. ​

By establishing a space common space for self-expression, we are promoting the existence of a "Market-place of ideas" that is essential to a healthy, well connected, and adaptive community capable of ensuring our individual liberty and promoting our collective interests. 

​Over time, the location of the installation can become a gathering space for as a place to go to express yourself and find others sharing theirs as well.

This can create opportunities to revitalize communities, uplift the human spirit, and strengthen the connections between friends, neighbors, and those we have yet to meet.
